I.M.P.A.C.T.S. of the Month
The name I.M.P.A.C.T.S. is an abbreviation of Influence More People with Actions, Character, Trust, and Service; but, also describes employees’ efforts making an impact on our organization and community. This name was selected to describe our Values program.
Living out our values will be the deciding principles considered by a Nominations committee. The objective is to honor employees who encompass and embody all six of the core values through their actions and behaviors in the workplace. Individuals nominated will have an opportunity to be selected as Honorees and will be celebrated for living out Midland County’s Values.
A second part to Midland County’s Values Program is called I.M.P.A.C.T.S. cards. This is an additional recognition program that is ongoing and provides instant feedback and praise. Card stations will be placed throughout county facilities with a poster for instructions, writing pen, and drop box. Any employee or member of the public can fill out the back of the card thanking employees for a job well-done. This is a wonderful opportunity to engage the community and say “Thank you!” to employees. This program is different in that it offers an avenue for all employees, including the Department Heads and Elected Officials, and members of the public to recognize good work and displaying our Values.
A picture of a hand trunk with hand prints (below) was chosen to portray our program. The trunk represents the County as an organization. The hands represent the impact employees’ behaviors and actions have on carrying out the core values. Since the Department Heads and Elected Officials initiated our values journey, they will place their hand print on a large canvas that will be located in the lobby of the Courthouse. Then, each monthly honoree will add their print to the canvas for the growing image of a tree.
