Items not owned by Midland County Public Library may be borrowed from another library.
This will be done free-of-charge unless the lending library charges a fee or postage is required.
Patrons must agree to these charges prior to ordering.
Borrowing books from another library is a privilege of the Midland County Public Library.
Any patron's abuse of the agreed terms of borrowing items from our library through interlibrary loan services
may result in the Midland County Public Library denying that patron any future use of the interlibrary loan
because it can jeopardize Midland County Public Library's ability to borrow books for any other library patron.

Patrons wishing to obtain materials from other libraries through Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
must have a Midland County Public Library card in good standing (-no outstanding fines or fees, or no unpaid lost library items.)
The borrower making the ILL request must be the financially responsible person on record for the library card.
Once the library receives the patron's request, it may take from several days to several weeks
for items to arrive at Midland County Public Library. Upon receipt and processing of items,
the patron will be notified via contact information given on the request form.
Any charges from the lending library will be passed on to the borrowing patron.
However, patrons may indicate "upfront" that they do not wish the item if there are any charges involved.
Most of the requests will be free of charge.
The lending library will determine the due date of that item. The date the item is due back at the Midland County Public Library
is determined by that due date and the length of time our library will need to get the item to the loaning library on time.
They also determine whether or not the item may be renewed. If you need the borrowed item
for longer than the agreed time period, it is your responsibility to request the extended loan period
through our library before the item is due. If the lending library requires that the item they lend be used
in the Midland County Public Library and not be taken from our building, our library will honor that request.
