General Ledger AccountantAuditorsThis position begins at 36,954.98 a year with benefits to start after the 91st day. SUMMARY
Position provides support to department activities with specific responsibilities for ensuring that overall policies, practices and/ or regulations meet compliance requirements; reviews and posts all receipts; monitors and balances general ledger monthly as well as prepares account reconciliations and researches and resolves any differences.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Review and posts receipt of all revenue including State and Federal funding to the general ledger for the purpose of ensuring the accuracy of reported information.
· Monitors and balances general ledger monthly
· Prepares account reconciliations and researches and resolves any differences
· Prepares and enters journal entry account corrections to the financial system.
· Review and balance State court cost report
· Prepares entries to record and document all voided checks
· Research and analyze monthly financial information, and communicates results of analysis to County Auditor
· Perform special projects as required by County Auditor and/ or 1st Assistant County Auditor
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Requires bachelor's degree in accounting or related field, plus at least one year of experience, or 10 years experience in accounting or bookkeeping. Or any Equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
KNOWLEDGE OF
Accounting practices and procedures; auditing practices and procedures; laws governing county finances; computers; budget information; and standard office practices and procedures;
SKILL/ABILITY TO
Operate computers, including spreadsheet and word processing software; read and understand manuals; read, analyze, and interpret various financial data, policies, and procedures; prioritize tasks to be completed; write letters, memos, and instructions; perform and review accounting procedures and methods; operate office equipment, including copy machine, 10-key and facsimile machine; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with county employees, vendors, and the general public. Ability to change tasks quickly, multitask, to perform precise work and be exact under time pressures.
