Pat Deines was born July 24th, 1941 in Cushing, Oklahoma. She was raised in Ponca City, Oklahoma, where she graduated from high school in 1959. Following graduation Pat joined the United States Navy on October 3rd, 1960. On August 1st, 1962 she was honorably discharged from the United States Navy. Pat worked 8 years as a Correction Officer at Kansas State Industrial Reformatory before coming to Midland, Texas in 1984. On March 12th, 1984, Pat was hired at the Midland County Sheriffs Office as a Jailer in the Detention Division. On October 15th, 1985, Pat was promoted to Sergeant in the Detention Division.
On December 1st, 1986, Pat transferred from the Detention Division to the Civil/Warrants Section in the Operations Division as an Investigator. Pat was always cheerful and was a dedicated employee. Pat was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 1992 and fought a brave battle against the cancer until her passing away on January 7th, 1993. In honor of Investigator Deines, one of the Midland County Sheriffs Office armored personnel carriers has officially been named "PATSY".
