Library Lunches

Midland County Public Libraries is collaborating with West Texas Food Bank to provide free summer meals for kids and parents at the downtown library, 301 W. Missouri Ave. Lunch will be served from noon to 1 p.m. weekdays from May 28 through August 9 in the children’s activity room. No registration is required.

Library Lunches aims to encourage summer reading, lifelong literacy, and learning. We want to connect patrons of all ages to useful information and community resources. Community partners will provide additional programming occasionally throughout the summer. See the schedule below.

Library Lunches program schedule:

Meals served noon-1 p.m. Monday through Friday.

June 4: Pool Safety - Officials from the city’s parks and recreation department will talk about how to stay safe at the pool this summer.

June 5: Nutrition - West Texas Food Bank’s registered nutritionist will share fun recipes and tips for children and adults.

June 6: Summer Fun - Officials with the city’s parks and recreation department will talk about upcoming events for families.

June 12: Space Activities – Enjoy space-themed crafts and activities with staff from Museum of the Southwest.

June 17: Community Resources - Adults are encouraged to visit with representatives from 2-1-1 Texas to learn what services are available in your community.

June 20: Nature Activities - Enjoy nature-themed crafts and activities with staff from Sibley Nature Center.

June 24: Budgeting - Adults will learn the basics of budgeting and personal finance from Frost bank representatives.

June 27: Insects & Pollination - Learn why pollination is important and how insects pollinate flowers with the library’s youth services coordinator.

July 9: Budgeting - Adults will learn the basics of budgeting and personal finance from Frost bank representatives.

July 11: Nutrition - West Texas Food Bank’s registered nutritionist will share fun recipes and tips for children and adults.

July 17: Space Activities - Enjoy space-themed crafts and activities with staff from the Museum of the Southwest.

July 23: Nature Activities - Enjoy nature-themed crafts and activities with staff from Sibley Nature Center.

July 30: Where Does it Grow - Play an interactive game with the library’s youth services coordinator to learn where your fruits and vegetables grow with an interactive game.

August 8: Budgeting - Adults will learn the basics of budgeting and personal finance from Frost bank representatives.
