There's a New Sheriff in town: Meet Sheriff David Criner

David Criner has proudly served Texas as a law enforcement officer for over 30 years. Born and raised in West Texas, David received his Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from University of Texas Permian Basin. He and his family came to Midland in 1981 when he joined the Midland County Sheriff’s Office as a Patrol Officer. In 1984, David became a trooper with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).

During his time with the Texas DPS, David first worked in Traffic Law Enforcement before moving to Criminal Law Enforcement in 1995. He worked tirelessly to keep criminals off our streets and to make Texas safe. Throughout this time, David also continued to study and learn, garnering over 4,700 hours of continuing education through the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education. He also holds licenses as a Master Peace Officer, a Polygraph Examiner and an Instructor. After over 25 years with the Texas DPS, David retired in 2010. He went back to work with the Midland County Sheriff’s Office as a juvenile investigator and monitored registered sex offenders to protect the people of Midland.

David brought his 30 plus years of experience in the field and strong conservative values to the office of Constable. He had a great desire to raise the level of professionalism in the Office and worked closely with the Justice of the Peace to maintain his court. As an experienced law enforcement officer, David understood the great need that all civil and criminal proceedings are processed in a timely manner. In his capacity as Constable, he continued his life’s work of keeping each of us safe.

Today we congratulate Sheriff David Criner, wishing him successful and safe time in office as our new sheriff.
