About Karen Hood
Karen Hood, Tax Assessor-Collector, began working for Midland County in the Tax Office in 2001.
She was appointed as Interim Tax Assessor in December 2013 and subsequently elected to the office in 2014 and 2016.

Since taking office, Karen has made significant changes of improvement to the office.
Property tax collections were consolidated to the Midland Central Appraisal District, saving property tax payers money by eliminating duplication of services. Customer service has been a top priority. She has accomplished her vision by making education and awareness principal priorities. She strives to make sure all of her employees become a Certified Tax Office Professional (CTOP).

Community
Karen is a long time member of the Midland community. She is a member of the Golf Course Road Church of Christ, a long standing member of the Midland County Republican Women and serves on the board of the Midland Central Appraisal District.

Family
Karen is married to Nick Hood and they have three sons, two daughter-in-laws and four grandchildren.
