Thank you for considering the Midland County Sheriff's Office. Most employees start in the jail division as clerks or jailers. Within time, some clerks promote to jailers who will be trained and become licensed with the state of Texas Jail Commission. Jailers are given the opportunity to attend the academy and eventually become Licensed Texas Peace Officers who will be commissioned by Sheriff David Criner. As deputies of Midland County, promotion within the agency is possible in many divisions. Promotion can consist in Patrol, Civil/Warrants, Investigators, and Court House Security Sections. Detention Division also has numerous promotion opportunities.
Job Requirements
- GED / High School Diploma
- College or Military a plus
- 18 years or older
- No Prior Criminal History
- Class B Misdemeanor or above
- Available for Shift Work
- 8 hour and 10 hour shifts

Training
We will provide training on-site and at various agencies. Within one year of employment as a jailer, you will attend a two week Jailer school and become licensed with the state of Texas Jail Commission. Some topics covered are the following:

- First Aid and CPR
- HIV / AIDS Policies
- Jail Classification
- Pat and Strip Searches
- Suicide Prevention
- Supervisor Training
