Voting in Midland

Exceptions to Electronic Voting

All voting in Midland County is electronic using Election Systems and Software Ballot Marking Devices with the following exceptions. You can vote an optic scan paper ballot if you qualify for any one of the following.

Ballot by Mail (Chapter 82 T.E.C.)

You can vote with a Ballot by Mail if:

  • You are a registered voter in Midland County and one of the following:
    • You are age 65 years or older
    • You will be out of Midland County during Early Voting and Election Day and have an out-of-county address to receive the ballot
    • You have a disability
    • You are confined in jail or involuntary Civil Commitment (see application for more details)
    • You are expected to give birth within three weeks before or after Election Day

Federal Postcard Application (Section 101.001 T.E.C.)

You can vote with a Federal Postcard Application if:

  • You are a registered voter in Midland County and/or would qualify to be registered
  • You are a member of the Armed Forces of the United States or spouse or dependent of a member stationed outside Midland County
  • You are a member of the Merchant Marines of the United States or spouse or dependent of a member stationed outside Midland County
  • You are domiciled in this state but temporarily living outside the territorial limits of the United States and the District of Columbia

Limited Ballot (Section 112.002 T.E.C.)

You can vote by Limited Ballot if:

  • You were a registered voter and would have been eligible to vote in another Texas county at the time of the election
  • Your Midland County registration was not effective on or before Election Day
  • You must vote during Early Voting at the Elections Office and can vote only on races/issues common with the previous and new county
  • Your registration will be canceled in your previous county

Provisional Ballot (Section 63.011 T.E.C.)

You can vote with Provisional Ballot if:

  • You are eligible to vote in this election, but are not on the list of registered voters
  • You requested a ballot by mail, but did not vote the ballot
  • You execute an affidavit stating you are a registered voter in the precinct in which you are trying to vote
