Exhibits

Various educational exhibitions are on display throughout the year. These exhibits are always open to the public during normal library hours and free of charge. Check out our exhibit programs for a list and description of all the exhibit programs on the library calendar.

Special Collections

The Downtown Library provides a Petroleum special collection, established in 1935 by the West Texas Geological Society. The Redfern Genealogical Research Center is located at the Centennial Library, and it is one of the top 5 genealogy collections in Texas.

Proctoring

Library staff may provide test proctoring free of charge (unless postage is necessary) at the availability of full-time staff. Patrons are responsible for all expenses connected to the exam. Appointments are required to ensure advanced notice for both parties.

Room Reservation

The library has a number of rooms available to reserve. These rooms are open to the community so long as they are for nonprofit use. Each room is equipped with TV monitors, whiteboards, tables with adequate seating, and HDMI and VGA connectivity.

Notary

Certified library staff may witness an individual signing a document or sworn statement free of charge. This service is provided during normal library hours, and while appointments are not required, patrons should call ahead at 432-742-7420 to ensure staff availability.

Passports

The Downtown Library at the Plaza is a passport acceptance facility. Patrons may bring their own passport photo and completed application with a valid and government-issued ID for a scheduled 30-minute appointment. Staff is fluent in both English and Spanish.
